Cuilcagh Boardwalk

Cuilcagh Mountain has always been one of Fermanagh's finest natural attractions, but with the recent opening of the famous boardwalk in 2015 along with the power of social media, the mountain has turned into something of a 'must-do' activity in Northern Ireland.

The boardwalk was built to protect the rare blanket bog from erosion caused by walkers in the Cuilcagh Mountain Special Area of Conservation. Located at the end of a 5.8 km limestone gravel track, the boardwalk is 1.6 km in length and features 450 steps.

The Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail which takes walkers from the car park at Legnabrocky (which is about 1 km from the road entrance to Marble Arch Caves) to the summit of the mountain. The rather isolated trail crosses through a quiet farmland track before walkers arrive at the wooden boardwalk that consists of a steady climb to the top of the mountain. Ideally the route is recommended for walkers with a good fitness level and some experience in hill walking.

The walk provides the most breath taking views and features the most impressive view of Lough Atona, a lake nestled at the foot of the mountain which was carved out by the glacier during the last Ice Age approximately 13,000 years ago.
