Cavan Burren Park

Cavan Burren Park is located in the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark only 18.6 miles from the resort. As part of the Geopark status, it is a fantastic natural landscape that provides opportunity for education whilst being a sight to behold!

The park itself has numerous sites to visit across the Geopark, from waterfalls and abbeys to mountains, boardwalks and forest trails all highlighting the spectacular prehistoric tombs, fantastic geology and special stories that make this such a unique environment. Information is laid out around the walks which explains all the features as you take in the picturesque views.

Folklore tells that two young male giants, Lugh and Lag, challenged each other to jump a gorge in order to show off to the female giant whose love they both sought. Unfortunately, Lag fell but that’s how the Giant’s Leap chasm got it’s name. You can learn about lots more of these stories throughout the park or from one of the local guides. There are over 10km of trails in total from accessible trails to bog bridge trails which go over limestone bedrock and past some of the finest prehistoric features in Ireland.

There are lots of wonderful picnic facilities around Cavan Burren Park, have your lunch out in the fresh air as you soak up the tranquility of the landscape. Cuilcagh Catering are on the site from 12pm to 6pm on Friday, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holiday Mondays for the summer months. They offer a range of foods that are sure to satisfy your hunger after a stroll in this beautiful historic park.​
