Situated on the shores of Lower Lough Erne, Castle Archdale is a beautiful country park offering visitors leisurely walks along the side of the Lough passing the deer park enclosure, wildfowl ponds, wildflower meadow and butterfly garden. Boat hire is available for those wishing to explore the nearby islands. Keep your eyes peeled as you stroll around as the park is home to a range of wildlife including red deer, foxes, badgers and various bird species.
Castle Archdale played an important role in WW2 as the most westerly flying-boat station, from which aircraft protected the allied convoys from the U-boat threat in the North Atlantic. Evidence of this role can found throughout the park from the ammunition dumps, slit trenches and flying-boat docks. The Archdale Centre in the courtyard offers significant local historical exhibits and interpretive displays.
A family friendly cycle route is also available through the Country Park and adjacent Forest Park.
