Golf
Lough Erne Resort is home to 2 Championship Golf Courses, including The Faldo Course; designed by Six time Major winner Nick Faldo, The Faldo Championship Course is his first golf course design in Ireland.

The Faldo Championship Course (7,167 yards Par 72) is an exciting challenge for golfers of all abilities, featuring 18 spectacular golf holes. Situated between Castle Hume Lough and Lower Lough Erne, 14 of the holes have Water in play, highlighted by the iconic 10th Hole, ‘Emerald Isle’ where the green is surrounded on three sides by water.

The routing of The Faldo Championship Course takes full advantage of the natural topography and provides golfers with superb all year round playing conditions.


Walking

The Collop Walk located within The Grounds of The Resort, surrounds the 600 acre peninsula which The Resort is nestled upon. Enjoy a walk, jog or run around The Collop path ,which encompasses the 18 spectacular golf Holes of The Faldo Championship Course and offers breathtaking views of Lower Lough Erne, Castle Hume Lough and the beauty and tranquility of The Fermanagh Lakelands. On route, you may wish to stop for a light bite at The Halfway House with amazing views over Lower Lough Erne and The Faldo Course On your travels you may well encounter, Cygnets on The Lough; Swan nests; Red Squirrels on the peninsula; Birds of Prey, Irish Hares; The Resort is also a haven for indigenous flora & fauna including, rare mosses and lichens.

The Resort is located minutes from Enniskillen in the heart of The Fermanagh Lakelands which is an ideal venue for walkers. With its vast array or terrains, mountains, forest and castle walks, there will be something to suit all strengths, abilities and interests.

Within the Fermanagh area, there are 25 unique walks throughout the County. The Walking guide grades the walks into four categories, from Easy to Difficult and outlines distance, grade and average time to complete as well as the type of terrain, maps available and facilities en route.

Explore Castle Coole with its extensive wooded grounds on the Eastern fringe of Enniskillen or take the challenge to climb to the top of the Magho Cliffs and enjoy breathtaking views across Lower Lough Erne. Various eclectic walks allow both locals and visitors alike to wander through the spectacular natural resources Fermanagh has to offer. Marvel at the panoramic views of Lower and Upper Lough MacNean, Florence Court and Cuilcagh Mountain or explore the Cladagh Glen, taking its name from the Cladagh River which is formed in the cool depths of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark.

From Forest to Mountains and Castles to Towns, Fermanagh has it all. So what better way to explore this wonderful County than by foot.


Cycling

The Resort can arrange Bicycle Hire or Guided Cycling Tours of the local Area; there is something for everyone as Fermanagh is part of The National Cycle Network in Northern Ireland - a network of signed cycle ways.

Cycle Trails include; The Castle Archdale Family Cycle trail; Cycle trails from Enniskillen Castle to Castle Coole and within the Crom Estate; The Kingfisher Cycle Trail, a unique mixture of Lakeland’s, canal side tracks, rolling hills, leafy laneways and mountain climbs, make the Kingfisher Trail the ideal choice for all levels of Cyclist; The North West Trail is a 326km circular cycle route through counties Donegal, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Leitrim, and Sligo, in the North West of Ireland. Travelling through a wide variety of scenic landscapes, utilising quiet country roads with some traffic free sections, mostly in urban areas.


Horse-Riding / Pony Trekking

Some of the best routes in Ireland are available through a BHS approved riding school and trekking centre. Quiet animals to suit beginners, as well as schooled horses for advanced riders are available. Group lessons and Private lessons are also available.


Watersports

Watersports on the fresh, clean waters of the Lough – for those seeking energetic pursuits, The Resort can organise; Windsurfing, Canoeing and Water-Skiing, and Speedboats or Sail Boats for a more relaxing journey, to weave across the tranquil waters between Lower Lough Erne’s 365 Islands.


Canoeing

Lough Erne Resort is the location for canoeing enthusiasts to base themselves with the magnificent lakes of Upper and Lower Lough Erne, lined by the River Erne, providing a trail of up to 50km. From the Woodford River on the Upper Lough, the Shannon Erne Waterway can be reached and from there it is possible to paddle all the way to Limerick!

Lower Lough Erne and its rugged shoreline provide a vast expanse of open water where large waves can build during windy periods – an ideal venue for the experienced paddler! In stark contrast, the Upper Lough provides good shelter with its maze of bays, narrow channels of slow flowing water and innumerable islands and peninsulas – offering a superb venue for the whole family!

Upper and Lower Lough Macnean, located to the West of the Erne System and in full view of the breathtaking Cuilcagh Mountains, flow into the Erne system via the River Arney and offer a fantastic touring venue. While the River Arney is faster flowing (grade 1).

Deer Stalking on Colebrooke Estate

This historic parkland, the family home of Viscount and Viscountess Brookeborough, provides excellent and unique stalking opportunities for trophy quality Japanese Sika deer. This takes place over an area of 3,500 acres of some of the most beautiful landscapes in Ireland. This exclusive opportunity is available to those with deer stalking experience. Stalking takes place under the direct supervision of The Viscount Brookeborough. (Available on request, Sep - Feb / Stags Sep - Nov / Hinds Nov - Feb early mornings & evenings)


Caving

Marble Arch Caves are one of Europe’s finest showcaves, allowing visitors to explore a fascinating, natural underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers. Lively and informative guides conduct tours past a bewildering variety of cave formations. Explore the world of stalactites & stalagmites from the electrically powered boats gliding through huge caverns along a subterranean river.
