Ryder Cup Director and Senior European Tour Official Mr. Richard Hills was recognised for the pivotal role he has played in Irish Golf over a period of over twenty nine years with the European Tour at the 2012 “Gala Irish Golf Awards” by the National Irish Golf Tourism Industry last night at Lough Erne Resort, in Co. Fermanagh.
Ms. Arlene Foster, Minister for Enterprise Trade & Investment wished to congratulate Mr. Richard Hills and all the award winners who have received national accolades on the night:

“2012 has been a monumental year for Northern Ireland golf, with the sell out success of the Irish Open Championship at Portrush, which achieved record attendance in the history of European Tour Events. ”
“Our local golfers continue to do us proud, while raising Northern Ireland’s profile around the world. Rory McIlroy became world number one, after winning the US PGA Championship, followed by the Duetsche Bank Championship and most recently the BMW Championship in Indiana. Darren Clarke was Vice-Captain for the successful European Ryder Cup team, Alan Dunbar became the British Amateur Champion and Stephanie Meadow won the 2012 British Ladies Amateur Championship.”

The 2012 “Gala Irish Golf Awards” was attended by a host of international sporting celebrities such as Barry McGuigan, Pat Jennings, Mike Gibson, David Humphries, Jack Kyle, Peter Canavan and was hosted by CNN Living Golf Presenter Shane O'Donoghue.
The event was supported by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board as Title Sponsors and was attended by representatives from leading international golf and tourism organisations such as Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, the European Tour, the Ladies European Tour, IAGTO and the Irish Region of the PGA.
The very best companies in the Irish Golf industry received accolades on the night with winners in the hotel, golf course and golf resort categories. The companies accepting awards on the night were:

The event is run each year by the Ireland Golf Tour Operator Association (IGTOA) which is an organisation that is pro-active in the promotion, growth and development of the National Irish Golf Tourism Industry.
